OSHA Training Institute Education Centers
The OSHA Training Institute Education Centers (OTIECs) are a national network of nonprofit organizations authorized by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. They provide innovative and effective safety and health training to improve the safety culture and performance in the workplace. The OTI Education Centers are the premier network leading occupational safety and health training in the country.
Program Background
The OSHA Training Institute Education Center Program was initiated as an extension of the OSHA Training Institute (OTI), which is the primary training provider of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. OTI targets Federal and State compliance officers and State consultation program staff, but also provides training for private sector personnel and Federal personnel from agencies other than OSHA on a space available basis. However, during the 1980s, the number of requests for training from private sector personnel and Federal personnel from agencies other than OSHA increased substantially and the demand eventually exceeded the capacity of the OSHA Training Institute.
The OTI Education Center Program is an integral resource in supporting OSHA’s training and education objectives. Since the creation of the program in 1992, the OTI Education Centers have advanced occupational safety and health training and supports OSHA’s mission.
OSHA San Francisco Region
The newly realigned OSHA San Francisco Region merged legacy OSHA 9 and OSHA 10 Regions. The OTIECs offer authorized safety and health training in Alaska, American Samoa, Arizona, California, Commonwealth of the Mariana Islands, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon and Washington.
