Thomas is an established safety consultant, safety trainer and safety curriculum developer with over 20 years of experience. He has developed and conducted annual safety needs assessments for the Port of San Diego Ship Repair Association since 2009; conducted training audits in safety, new employee training (Bay Ship & Yacht, Southwest Marine, SMS Technologies); developed over 100 training courses delivered by BTS and other trainers; designed, developed and implemented the 40 hour, Federal OSHA compliant Manufacturers Skill Standards Counsel’s safety training course; designed nine Safety training courses that were reviewed and approved by OSHA, including Creating a Safety Culture, The Supervisor’s Role in Safety, Shipyard Confined Spaces, Shipyard Ergonomics, Using Shipyard Portable Tools, and Safe Shipyards Practices Program. Since 2008, Thomas has trained over 12,000 shipyard workers in multiple topics , is a Six Sigma Blackbelt and is a Certified MSSC in the topic of Safety/Quality and Manufacturing.
